Chicago Marathon-Mini Campaign
I worked in a group to create this campaign. I was the only designer, so designed everything except the social media post. I focused on creating consistency throughout all the pieces through the color scheme and graphic elements.
Project & Event Details
The Chicago Marathon is a marathon race held every October in Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the six World Marathon Majors. Thus, it is also a World Athletics Label Road Race. The Chicago Marathon is the fourth-largest race by number of finishers worldwide.
The Ask
I was tasked with creating a campaign consisting of an invitation to an afterparty event, main event poster, social media post, and a piece of merchandise.
The Approach
We decided to design all the pieces with very similar color schemes and graphic elements in hope to build a connection between them. We chose a very minimalistic and clean design as we wanted to prioritize legibility.
Process
Red, white and blue are already the official colors of the Chicago Marathon so we opted to use those as our color palette for this campaign. I chose to use an extra graphic element on the invitation since it included an extra aspect from the marathon. For our piece of merchandise, we chose a windbreaker as Chicago is known as the “Windy City.”
My main goal working on this campaign was to keep all the pieces connected and have them clearly relate to each other. I also prioritized legibility and a clean aesthetic.
